How to Keep Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel in Fullscreen Mode After Restarting (PC)

This guide will let you run Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel in fullscreen mode by default on Steam. Currently, the game reverts to windowed mode every time you launch the game.

The game is free-to-play and only needs 293MB of disk space, so it should install quickly. However, an additional 5GB will be downloaded after you register your player name.

Step 1: Find Yu-Gi-Oh Master! Duel in your Steam library.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is now available on Steam.

Right-click the game in your Steam library once it has been fully installed. Select Properties and a new pop-up window will open.

Step 2: Add a Command in the Launch Options

Next, you will see the General Properties for Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel. Find the Launch Options and type this console command in the text box:

-popupwindow

Step 3: Launch the game.

There you go! The game will automatically launch in fullscreen mode whenever you boot it up on Steam. Hopefully, Konami patches this specific issue in the future. But for now, this simple workaround should do the trick.

Have you done all the steps but the game keeps launching in windowed mode? Then do the following:

  1. Launch Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel on Steam.
  2. Click on the Submenu and go to Game Settings.
  3. Make sure you selected Fullscreen mode and the maximum resolution.
  4. Restart the game with -popupwindow enabled.

What is Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel?

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is the newest digital trading card game (TCG) developed and published by Konami. The Yu-Gi-Oh franchise is based on the manga by Kazuki Takahashi, released in 1996. The manga then inspired a video game three years later. The iconic Yu-Gi-Oh Trading Card Game was released three years later in 2002, followed by an anime series.

According to Konami, Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is the definitive edition of their most popular digital TCG. The graphics, audio, and interface are superior to similar games like DUEL LINKS and Legacy of the Duelist. Master Duel features a Solo Mode, Duel Mode (multiplayer), and an in-game Shop. New Duelists—or returning ones who haven’t played for years—can play a tutorial mode to learn the basics. Complete the tutorial to earn 1000 Gems and a starter deck!

The concept of this game is pretty straightforward. Duel other opponents (human or AI) and win Gems. Use these gems to buy Card Packs. Build better card decks and learn better strategies to win.

Remember, this is a free-to-play game. There are microtransactions, which means there are pay-to-win issues. Don’t worry, you can always come back to Solo Mode whenever you get tired of losing to more skilled (or rich) players.

Yu-Gi-Oh! Master Duel is now available for PlayStation, Xbox, and Steam. The Nintendo Switch version and mobile ports for Android and Apple iOS will be released at a future date.
