Learn how to disable data collection while playing Spider-Man Remastered PC on Steam. This guide will teach you how to launch the game in offline mode while still be to unlock Steam achievements. Sony Interactive uses a cloud-based service that aims to “further improve the user experience” by collecting your game data. However, there is actually a way to bypass the data collection without breaking any rules and ruining your in-game experience. Follow the steps below to learn how.
STEP 1: Go to Windows Firewall Advanced Settings
Open your start menu and type “firewall settings” or “windows firewall” on the search bar. The result should look like any of the two images below. Click on the Advanced Settings button and proceed to the next step.
STEP 2: Create Two New Outbound Rules
Click Outbound Rules in the left-hand side of the Advanced Settings menu. Then go to the right-hand side and find select New Rule. You should now see a window similar to the image below.
Remember, you need to create TWO new outbound rules. These are the following files that you should select for the Program step:
- crs-handler.exe
- Spider-Man.exe
To find these files, click Browse and find your Steam installation directory for Spider-Man Remastered. For example:
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered\crs-handler.exe
D:\Steam\steamapps\common\Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered\Spider-Man.exe
Next, go to the Action step and select Block the connection.
Afterwards, proceed to Profile and ensure that all three boxes are checked.
Finally, go to the final step called Name and choose a label that fits the rules. Something like Spiderman-Rule1 and Spiderman-Rule2. Remember, you need to make two separate outbound rules for the crs-handler.exe and Spider-Man.exe files.
STEP 3: Launch Spider-Man Remastered PC on Steam
Now you can enjoy playing Spider-Man Remastered without fear of having your personal data and in-game statistics collected whenever you connect to the Internet. After all, it’s just a single-player game and not a live service game or MMORPG.
Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered is a third-person superhero role-playing game first released in November 11, 2020 for the Sony PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. The PC port for Steam was launched on August 12, 2022. Those who pre-ordered the game will receive early unlock bonuses, although these rewards can still be earned through normal progression.
