How to Enable Fullscreen Mode in Back 4 Blood

Back 4 Blood is a first-person zombie co-op shooter made by Turtle Rock Studios. You should definitely give this game a try if you’re a fan of Left 4 Deadafter all, they’re made by the same developers! However, the game does not have a Fullscreen mode available in the options menu. For those who prefer to play it in Windowed or Borderless Fullscreen modes, you’ll be fine. If you’re looking for an exclusive Fullscreen mode, there is a quick fix for that.

Step 1: Find the config file

First, you must find the GameUserSettings.ini config file located in the Back 4 Blood directory:

Method 1. Use Windows File Explorer to go to this folder:

C:\Users\[YourPCname]\AppData\Local\Back4Blood\Steam\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor

Method 2. Open your Run command and type %localappdata% and find the folder mentioned above.

Step 2: Open the config file

Once you open the GameUserSettings.ini using a text editor such as Notepad, find the following lines:

FullscreenMode=1
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=1
PreferredFullscreenMode=1

Step 3: Edit the config file

Change the values of the three aforementioned command lines from 1 to 0. The file should now look like this:

FullscreenMode=0
LastConfirmedFullscreenMode=0
PreferredFullscreenMode=0

Step 4: Save and close the file

Now you can enjoy Back 4 Blood in exclusive fullscreen! Take note that when the game in Fullscreen mode stops loading whenever it’s not in-focus. Do not press Alt-Tab during loading screens or else the game might freeze.

Back 4 Blood is the spiritual successor of the popular Left 4 Dead series.

Turtle Rock Studios has been working on Back 4 Blood for a while now, which explains why many players were excited for its releasemore so since Left 4 Dead 2 was released way back in 2009. The because Back 4 Blood finally left open beta and launched on October 12, 2021.
